Merger & Acquisition Madness

M&A may be responsible for any and all bullishness in 2015.

By the end of March, more than $843 billion in merger and acquisition (M&A) deals have been announced. According to Thomson Reuters, this is the largest amount of M&A activity since 2007.

  • M&A activity may be responsible for any and all bullishness in 2015.
  • Biotechnology (one of the most active M&A sectors) is outperforming all indices by a minimum of 100%.
  • Charter Comm / Bright House Networks deal will not go through if Comcast / Time Warner deal does not go through.
  • Because Warren Buffett is paying the special dividend. He and his cohort, 3G get 2% ownership over Kraft shareholders.


So the big question that looms is, what happens come end of June when the current bailout expires? Another extension, or the start of turmoil in the world markets?
